It’s that time of year again – The Block will be holding its famous Open for Inspection this weekend.

Blockaholics can get up close and personal with the finished Albert Park apartments on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm.

All of the contestants, as well as host Scott Cam and site foreman Keith, will be there to meet and greet fans.

It’s set to be a proper family day with a sausage sizzle and other entertainment, though Channel 9 is warning people to queue up early to beat the crowds.

“Those turning up to this weekend’s inspections will get a sneak peek at the master bedrooms and ensuites…”

Last year thousands lined up to see inside the contestants’ South Melbourne apartments (some turned up as early as 3am!), so we think it’s safe to say this year will be similarly busy.

It’s still anyone’s game in the Fans v Faves competition, though there was some controversy Wednesday night when Kyal and Kara won the charity challenge with their brightly coloured teenager’s bedroom.

The teams had eight hours to revamp four bedrooms for the Lighthouse Foundation, a charity for homeless youth. Each pair was asked to use their team colour for inspiration.

The Super Ks won a $5000 renovation boost with their cheery yellow retreat, which was praised for its “lovely and fresh feel” – but not everyone was happy with the result.

Fans took to Facebook and Twitter to vent their frustrations, claiming the room’s bright yellow paint job and plywood feature wall was too dated.

“Cannot believe the Super K’s room won on the block challenge tonight. The boys [sic] red room was perfect for a teenager,” user Miss Caity Rae said.

“No way! The yellow room was rubbish, had that down as the worst, what a joke,” Laura Whitehead tweeted.

“It’s still anyone’s game in the Fans v Faves competition.”

Some fans went so far as to accuse the judges of favouritism, threatening to stop watching the show if the same judges continue to be involved next year.

Thus far Kyal and Kara have won two of the six room challenges with their contemporary guest bedroom and timber-heavy upstairs bathroom. Twins Alisa and Lysandra have also won two rooms, while Brad and Dale and Chantelle and Steve have landed the top spot once apiece.

Those turning up to this weekend’s inspections will get a sneak peek at the master bedrooms and ensuites, which will be officially revealed on the show this Sunday.

Which team will win the day? Your guess is as good as mine.

The Block Open for Inspection will be held at 47 O’Grady Street, Albert Park from 10am to 2pm on Saturday March 22 and Sunday March 23. For public transport options, visit The Block website.
