Posh and Becks are on the move!

After fourteen years in their massive country estate – which was aptly nicknamed ‘Beckingham Palace’ by the UK press – the Beckhams have decided to sell up in favour of a lavish townhouse in central London.

Not only did the couple sell their 12-acre Hertfordshire estate for a cool £12 million (AU$20 million) earlier this month, but they also parted with one of Becks’s favourite Ferraris, two Jaguars and their holiday home in France in order to buy a £45 million (AU$75.5 million) townhouse closer to their sons’ cushy private school.

It has been said they made a tidy £9.5 million profit on the sale of the property, which was purchased for a mere £2.5 million (AU$4.1 million) after their wedding back in 1999.

Some of the personal touches added over the years include a recording studio, a helipad in the garden (because why not?) and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

When listing the property for sale, they were quick to request it should go to a private buyer and not a developer who could cash in on their name recognition and split the property into smaller apartments.

The couple, who have spent the last few years jetsetting around the world for Becks’s soccer career, haven’t lived in the country estate for at least two years.

A source told tabloid Sun on Sunday the move would signal “the beginning of a new era for the family” following Becks’s retirement from professional football earlier this year.

Their luxurious new townhouse encompasses four-storeys and 46 rooms and includes a swimming pool, a home cinema and a triple garage for their remaining car collection.

Posh and Becks hope friend Gordon Ramsay will design a five-star kitchen, while celeb interior designer Kelly Hoppen will decorate in an “American theme” to make children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper feel more at home after spending so much time in Los Angeles.

As for their furniture? Posh apparently has plans for a huge farewell auction at Beckingham Palace to sell off what they don’t want or need, with all the proceeds to go to charity.

Items on offer will include kitchen wares, household appliances and some of their designer clothes.

According to a source: “The house has been the scene of many fundraising dos, so why not host a farewell auction there too? There will be some amazing stuff for sale, so she [Victoria] hopes to raise thousands.”

It’s even rumoured they plan to sell the famous red and gold thrones that featured in their wedding. We’re sure someone out there will snatch those up!
