After spending almost an entire year gauging interest in his Melbourne mansion, Shane Warne has confirmed his Brighton heritage-listed home is now officially for sale.

Though it is rumoured Warne may not receive the payout he had hoped for.

The house unofficially hit the market during August last year, following speculation Warne was set to relocate from Melbourne to Britain to be with partner, Elizabeth Hurley.

Early estimations predicted the mansion could bring in up to $20 million, an impressive bump up from the $9 million Warne originally paid for it in 2009 with then-wife Simone Callahan.

However, sources now believe the property may only sell for a more modest price around the $15 million mark.

“We are now getting serious about selling it,” says Warne’s real estate agent Jonathan Dixon, managing director of JP Dixon Real Estate. “We are doing some photography next week and getting ready to be launched online”.

According to Kay & Burton real estate agent Stewart Lopez, who originally sold the property to Warne Callahan, Warne has made “substantial improvements” to the property since his purchase.

“Early estimations predicted the mansion could bring in up to $20 million…”

The four bedroom mansion has undergone a complete renovation and now features a gym, a basement garage for up to 15 cars, a tennis court, a cinema and even a pool with the spin king’s cricket number inscribed on the bottom, “23”.

As well as this, the home also has its own library, a marble fireplace and a billiards room.

The confirmation of the sale of the house that gained notoriety after it became a love nest for Warne and his now-fiancé, Elizabeth Hurley, comes just two months after fellow Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting bought a nearby Brighton home.
