Spring time is finally here, which means homes will begin flooding the market. So what does this mean for those attempting to buy a property?

• In his weekly commentary, Peter Sarmas spoke to several real estate agents around Melbourne. They believe the change is creating good buying opportunities for discerning investors.

• Thornbury is an exciting investment location due to its popularity with families. Buyer’s advocate Cate Bakos hit the fashionable northern suburb to find a budget-friendly unit for her latest client.

• SQM Research believes the market remains strong on the east coast of Australia, though mining cities are experiencing a downturn that could persist for some time.

• And The Block is prompting more and more people to renovate their homes, which is having a significant impact on the economy. However, homeowners should be aware of the tax deductions available to them before they set off to work.
