Nestled between Doncaster, Warrandyte and Ringwood, Park Orchards is a quaint residential suburb just half an hour from the city. While it is located near Springvale Road and EastLink, Park Orchards maintains a quiet suburban and rural community atmosphere. Houses are generally situated on large blocks of land, and many medium sized family homes are found throughout the area.

There is a popular expanse of natural bushland in the middle of the suburb, known as 'The 100 Acres', which residents prevented from being developed back in the 1970s. This large section of land has been preserved as a home to native flora and fauna. The south-western border follows the Mullum Mullum Creek, and this is also home to many native Australian animals and plants.

The local shopping strip can be found at the corner of Hopetoun and Park roads. However, most residents make the journey to Eastland Shopping Centre, which is just ten minutes away, because it can satisfy virtually any retail requirement. There are two primary schools for families with young children: St Anne's Primary School, and Park Orchards Primary School, which ranks highly on the MySchool website.
