Situated between Moe and Traralgon, you will find Morwell, a town that thrives on the Victorian power industry. Hourly weekday V/Line services run from Morwell Station to Melbourne in approximately two hours. The Latrobe Valley Airport is also on the outskirts of town and is the only airport to service the district.
The town boasts some truly beautiful reserves, including the Morwell Golf Club and Kernot Lake. Hazelwood Power Station, a large coal mine used to generate electricity, can be found to the south. The town is also home to PowerWorks, an energy education centre that provides interactive displays about the Latrobe Valley as Victoria's energy centre.
The booming Mid Valley Shopping Centre houses a Big W and a Target, as well as two supermarkets and a Village Cinema. On either side of the train station there are shopping strips with all the necessary local amenities, including some lovely cafes and restaurants. Morwell has five primary schools, two secondary schools and two GippsTAFE campuses.
