Greenvale is a quiet northern suburb in the City of Hume. It is located approximately forty minutes away from the inner city. The nearest train station is Roxburgh Park Station, where trains run to Flinders Street on the Craigieburn line. There are four primary schools in the area: Greenvale Primary School, Kolbe Catholic College, Aitken College and St Carlo Borromeo Catholic Primary School.
