Glenrowan is a small town near Wangaratta in Victoria's north-east. It is famously known as the location of Ned Kelly's last stand and capture, and as a result, it has been a prominent feature in a number of books, films and television shows. A large Ned Kelly statue stands watch in the heart of Kellyland, a village dedicated to the infamous bushranger in the centre of town.
The township is home to a range of award-winning wineries and scenic orchards. Its vineyards are crowded during annual events such as Trails, Tastings and Tales and the Winemaker's Weekend. Cellar doors at Tallis Wine and Morrisons boast fine food, picnic spaces and spectacular views. Nearby, the Ovens River runs through the Warby-Ovens National Park. Gladstone Street is the main shopping strip. Here, in addition to Ned Kelly souvenir shops and Ned Kelly themed restaurants, there are several quaint cafes, like Kate Kelly's Teahouse. A bus service operates on Wednesdays between the Ned Kelly statue and Wangaratta Station.
