Centro The Glen is a major suburban shopping centre featuring over 200 specialty stores and major retailers, including a David Jones, Target and three supermarkets. Kingsway is seen as Glen Waverley's main hub, providing residents with a multitude of dining options. Many of the restaurants there are particularly influenced by the suburb's Asian population. Century City Walk, with its Village cinemas, bars and restaurants, is also situated on Kingsway.

Glen Waverley Station is the terminus for the line, and it is only a thirty-five minute ride into the city. Syndal Station is located to the west of the suburb, also on the Glen Waverley line. The Monash Freeway provides easy access to the city. Monash University's Clayton campus is just to the south of the suburb, less than ten minutes away by car, and also accessible via some of the bus routes running through the area.
